  • Ban Tetsugyu Roshi - Ban Tetsugyu Roshi was a Dharma successor of Harada Roshi. He established two temples in Japan, Kannonji (Iwate) and Tetsugyuji (Oita). He retired from Toshoji on May 10,1992 and died Jan, 21, 1996.
  • Jiyu-Kennett - Founder of the Order of Buddhist Contemplatives, following the Serene Reflection Meditation (Soto Zen)Tradition. First Abbess of Shasta Abby. b. 1924, d., 1996.
  • Venerable Master Hsuan Hua - Master Hauan Hua was one of the earliest Chinese Chan masters to have set foot in the USA. He received transmission in the Wei-Yang lineage from Master Hsu Yun. He founded the City of Ten Thousand Buddha in 1976 and passed away in 1995.
